Alberta man arrested and charged in takedown on third and Victoria last week

PRINCE GEORGE–An Alberta man has been charged in connection to a series of incidents in Prince George late last week.

Just before noon on Friday, Aug.14 Prince George RCMP attempted a traffic stop with a vehicle near the corner of Victoria Street and 15th Ave. The vehicle was associated with a person with outstanding warrants.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop and instead fled north down Victoria Street. RCMP did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety. Moments after that RCMP received reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 8th Ave. and Vancouver St. When police arrived at the scene they found the suspect vehicle had collided with another car. The male driver fled on foot and then into another vehicle being driven by another male.

Police were able to locate the vehicle near the intersection of 3rd Ave. and Victoria St. minutes later. the vehicle was stopped and the two occupants, aged 42 and 31, were taken into custody.

The lone occupant of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect vehicle, was transported to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Christopher Frank Phillips, a 42-year-old man from Alberta, has been charged by the BC Prosecution Service with Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Fail to Comply.

Phillips was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Red Deer, Alberta for a number of offences, mostly related to firearms, drugs, and driving. Phillips also has another arrest warrant for drug-related charges out of Ontario. The 31-year-old man arrested with Phillips has been released without charge at this time. The investigation is continuing.
