COVID-19 update

269 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, including 5 more in Northern Health

VICTORIA — Two-hundred and sixty-nine new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including five more in Northern Health.

Those new cases occurred over a three day period: 109 cases from Friday to Saturday, 81 from Saturday to Sunday and 79 from Sunday to today says Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

A total of 5,184 people have tested positive for the virus in B.C. since the pandemic began. Here’s the regional breakdown:

• Vancouver Coastal Health: 1651
• Fraser Health: 2739
• Vancouver Island Health: 166
• Interior Health: 425
• Northern Health: 127
• Residents residing outside Canada: 76

Henry says there are 913 active cases of the virus in the province. Of those 913 people she says 18 people are hospitalized, including five people in intensive care or critical care units.
