Missing kayaker found

PRINCE GEORGE – Divers with the BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located and recovered the body of the missing kayaker from the waters of Davie Lake, just north of the community of Bear Lake, BC, on Monday, August 24th.

Officers and other emergency services were called to the lake at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 after receiving a report that an adult male went missing after the kayak he was on turned over.

Emergency Management BC was contacted and deployed the Prince George Search & Rescue Society to assist.

The surface area and the shoreline of the lake were searched by boat and helicopter prior to underwater efforts.

According to RCMP, foul play is not suspected. The man was not wearing a life jacket.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm the cause of death.

No further information about the identity of the deceased will be released.
