PRINCE GEORGE – Northern Health has had a little problem on its hands recently.
A really little problem.
A bedbug outbreak at Alward Place.
“We first heard about the incident early this month. There was an incident of bedbugs. So we were able to react quickly and mitigate the situation,” explains Haylee Seiter, the Communications Advisor of Population and Public Health. “We actually had a dog come up. That’s part of Orkin’s pest control that was able to find the culprits and help us remedy the situation.”
Four units were affected and the residents were put up in hotels for the duration of the work.
How the bedbugs got into the units is a mystery.
“Bedbugs can hitch a ride. There’s no firm way to stop them. Anybody can be affected by bedbugs. It’s not affected by sanitation. So we don’t know.”
