Aquatic Centre registration opening

PRINCE GEORGE – The Aquatic Centre will be opening to the public after the Labour Day long weekend, but registration gets underway Monday. And it’s really important to register.

“All customers who are swimming need to register, for two reasons,” explains Jim Worthington, Manager of Aquatics. “One is we can ensure we don’t go over our maximum occupancy. The other one is, if there is an outbreak, Northern Health has the ability to do contact tracing.”

A maximum of 40 swimmers is allowed into the Aquatic Centre at a rime. You can also register by phone by calling the Aquatic Centre directly.

But, beware, it is not business as usual.

“So the hot tub, you can only have three people at a time with a maximum stay of five minutes. The lazy river, you can only have one person at a time because of the narrow passageways. The swim lanes, if you’re in a double lane, you can have five people swimming at a time or if it’s a single lane, one person per single lane.”

And there are some rules around usage:

  • Patrons must bring a facemask. Facemasks are required in the corridors leading to and from the change rooms and while in the change rooms where physical distancing is limited.
  • Visitors must not enter if they are sick or required to self-isolate.
  • Physical distancing of two arms lengths from others (two metres) is required.
  • Wash hands with soap and water prior to visiting the facility or use hand sanitizer upon entry.
  • Swimmers must wear a bathing suit prior to coming to the pool to limit the time spent in the change rooms. Visitors must shower before and after using the pool. Spectators will not be permitted and the viewing area will be closed.
