Tow to tow: Tow truck impounded after arriving at scene to impound street racers

TERRACE–RCMP in Terrace got quite the surprise earlier this week.

On August 25 at around 8 p.m. an RCMP officer observed two vehicles street racing on Kalum Street at Keith Ave., eastbound to the intersection of Hwy.16 and Hwy.37, in Terrace. The officer estimated the speeds of both vehicles at an excess of 90 km/hour in a 50 km/h zone.

Police say that at one point both drivers had to slam on their brakes to avoid colliding with a transport truck that was entering the road.

The officer managed to stop both vehicles, ticket both drivers and impound both cars for street racing. However, not too long after calling a tow truck, it arrived and the officer noticed that the driver seemed to be displaying signs of impairment.
