The pace of job gains slowed in August

The economy added 246-thousand jobs in August, fewer than economists had expected.

PRINCE GEORGE-A slow down in job gains with the numbers out of Stats Canada showing the economy added 246,000 jobs in August ,compared with 419,000 jobs added in July. The national unemployment rate fell to 10.2 per cent in August from 10.9 in July. BC’s unemployment rate dipped to 10.7 per cent last month from 11.1 in July . Little change in the Prince George jobless numbers,down to 9.6 percent last month from 9.8 in July.
