PG Cougars announce first Pro-D Day Hockey School

PRINCE GEORGE—The Prince George Cougars have announced their first Pro-D Day Hockey School.

The inaugural event is being presented by Schultz Craftsman Collision, on Friday, September 25 at the KIN 2 arena. This is the first in a series of Pro-D Day hockey camps that will include one-hour ice sessions for elite and recreational level players.

All of the sessions will be instructed by the Cougars’ coaching staff, led by General Manager and Head Coach Jason Smith, a WHL and NHL alum, Goaltending Coach Taylor Dakers an AHL and WHL alum, and Development Coach Steve O’Rourke a WHL & Pro alum.

“I’m proud that our coaching staff is taking up a leadership role in helping develop our local minor hockey players. We are excited to provide ice sessions not only tailored to the elite level player but also those recreational level players who are looking for a great experience,” adds Lamb.

Elite level ice sessions for those 9-12 are $35 each. Participants will experience elite level skills development for position specific training. Each participant will also receive a game voucher for a future Cougars’ regular season home game.

Rec sessions are $30 a person and participants will receive a camp jersey and game voucher for a future regular season home game as well. Rec level ice sessions will feature small area 3-on-3 games.

Elite Level Ice Sessions:

  • 8-9 a.m., Defence specific training: 14 skaters, six goalies
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m., Forward specific training: 16 skaters, four goalies
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Forward specific training: 18 skaters, two goalies

Rec Level Ice Sessions:

  • 12:30-1:30 p.m., 18 skaters, two goalies
  • 2:00-3:00 p.m., 18 skaters, two goalies
