PRINCE GEORGE – The Takla Nation has issued a warning and identified positive COVID-19 cases Friday morning.

“We have received confirmation of some positive COVID-19 cases in Fort St. James,” said General Manager of Operations with the Takla Nation Scott Hickling

Potential exposure events include Headstone Rising at Beaver Lake on August 30, and the wedding at Nak’azdli on September 5.

“We are aware that we have had many visitors in our community recently. We have consistently advised people to practice social distancing and to take advantage of the precautions put in place to keep the community safe and healthy.” -Takla Nation

The Takla Nation is asking anyone who attended those events to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms.

The Takla Nation has also closed Nus Wadeezulh Community School Friday as a precaution. They say a preliminary investigation has indicated no staff members of the school attended the events.

The Takla Nation asks people to limit their travel into Fort St. James and use a face mask and hand sanitizer to enter any public buildings.
