PRINCE GEORGE – The Beaverly Community Association is on the edge of building a trail system that will focus on saving wildlife areas and connecting the community with scenic viewpoints.

Recently, they submitted an application to the province to develop and maintain a system of trails in the vicinity of Lost Lake on the western edge of Beaverly, which is west of Prince George.

Doug Beckett is known in his community of Beaverly as a trailblazer. For several years he and a group of residents in his community are trying to preserving a rustic trail system west of the city.

According to Beckett, the group residents have slowly made steps in enhancing the trail system. Currently, the province is in the process of collecting comments from the public.

The design of the lost lake trail system winds close to three wetlands which feed into the lost lake.

The majority of the 9-kilometer trail system is designed with a grade less six percent slope, making it easier access for wheelchairs.

During the winter season, much trail system is accessible by cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

The public can make their comment made on the Provincial crown land application web site.
