Overdue hunters located

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: RCMP have released more details on the group of overdue hunters located today.

Police say at 11:54 last night they received a report of the overdue hunters, which included three adults and two children who had failed to return home as planned.

Police say Emergency Management BC and Prince George Search and Rescue were deployed at first light today.

Later this morning, police say family members were able to make contact with the overdue hunters via a satellite phone. The hunters suffered vehicle trouble, but were fine and did not wish further assistance.

Police say the search has been concluded.

Earlier: A group of overdue hunters have been located after a night out in the Blackwater area.

RCMP located the family with the help of Prince George Search and Rescue just before noon today.

No word yet on whether or not anyone was injured.

Police say it’s a reminder to everyone to notify friends and family of where you’re headed when going out into the backcountry.
