PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP arrested eight people early this morning after they executed a search warrant on the 400-block of South Lyon Street.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says a search was conducted and two loaded firearms along with ammunition and a ‘stun’ gun were located and seized.

“A 21-year-old male and a 28-year-old male were held in custody and will be attending court later today, pending charge assessment from the BC Prosecution Service. Both are well known to police and have a history of violence. Six others were released pending further investigation and charge assessment from the BC Prosecution Service.”

Douglass says the action taken by police was a direct result of the on-going investigation into the increased violence involving firearms in our community.

“Due to the extreme high risk to safety, police utilized special tactics to secure the residence and arrest all occupants.”

He says the investigation is continuing and further police action is likely.
