Seven new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 91 in B.C.

VICTORIA—Seven new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region, for a total of 273 since the start of the pandemic.

Provincially, 91 new cases were reported, including five epi-linked cases for a total of 8,395 cases in B.C.

Cases by health region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 3,016
  • Fraser Health: 4,302
  • Island Health: 203
  • Interior Health: 515
  • Northern Health: 273
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 86

Currently 1,376 cases are active, 3,368 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of being exposed to a known case of the virus.

62 people are in hospital and 18 of those are in ICU. There are no new deaths to COVID-19, B.C.’s death toll remains at 227. There are no new healthcare outbreaks, and two have been declared over for a total of 14 active outbreaks in the healthcare system. No new community outbreaks were reported either.

“The impact of this means that thousands of people in B.C. are now under active public health monitoring and care, with many forced to deal with the stress and anxiety that comes with having to self-isolate away from work, friends and family,” continues the statement.

British Columbians are being asked once again to continue to abide by COVID-19 safety basics, such as hand washing frequently, physical distancing, wearing a mask, limiting social interactions, and staying home when sick.
