PRINCE GEORGE — A 50-year-old Prince George woman will be in court today following a frightening incident at a restaurant in town.

RCMP say that yesterday (Sept.23) at approximately 1:30 p.m., police “received a hold-up alarm from a restaurant on the corner of 20th Avenue and Victoria Street.”

Cpl. Craig Douglass says initial indication was that an irate adult woman was threatening staff in the restaurant with needles.

He says officers arrived to arrest the woman without further incident.

“She was found to be in possession of stolen cheques and was breaching the conditions of a release order from a previous incident.”

Douglass says the woman was believed to be intoxicated by drugs and was heavily agitated before and during the contact with police.

She was held by police overnight and will appear in court today, pending charges.

There were no reported injuries. The suspect’s name has not been released.
