PRINCE GEORGE—RCMP say that a violent priority offender is back in custody after being arrested yesterday.

On the morning of September 28th PG RCMP, with the help of a Police Dog Service team and the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, closed in on a residence on Boyd St., near 1st Ave. and Ospika Blvd.

29-year-old Colin Michaud Durrand, and a 40-year-old female surrendered to police without incident. Police seized firearms and other weapons from the home.

Earlier this month, the BC Prosecution Service approved the following Criminal Code charges and issued arrest warrants for Durrand:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Fail to comply with probation
  • Fail to comply with release order

Those charges stem from four separate incidences dating back to July 2019. Durrand was held overnight and will appear in court later today. Police say that he has a history of violence and is believed to pose an increased risk to public safety. The female was released without charge.

Anyone with information about violence or illegal firearms is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online.
