Dawson Creek RCMP detachment experiencing troubles with phone system

PRINCE GEORGE–Dawson Creek RCMP say that their phone system has been experiencing issues recently.

A release by Dawson Creek RCMP says that currently, the phone system will not accept messages, and will continuously ring.

“Basically there is currently no ability for callers to leave a voicemail when they call the detachment phone number. Similarly there is no ability for callers to follow phone prompts to route their call to our emergency dispatchers for more immediate assistance.”–Corporal Chris Manseau, Media Relations Officer, E Division BC RCMP

“This could lead someone in an emergency calling and not receiving immediate assistance,” adds Cpl. Manseau.

In an effort to limit the amount of missed calls the detachment staff will increase their hours, however, do point out that there may be times that the phone system is not manned. The problem has been diagnosed and will be fixed soon. Dawson Creek RCMP are thanking the public for their patience and are reminding the public that 9-1-1 services are not affected.
