Explosives found at PG residence during search warrant

Oct 2, 2020 | 12:49 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—RCMP seized two homemade explosive devices along with a prohibited weapon, ammunition and drugs at a residence they visited earlier this week to arrest a priority offender.

Prince George RCMP say that on Oct.1 they obtained a Criminal Code search warrant at a home on Boyd St, near First Ave. and Ospika Blvd—the same residence visited by RCMP earlier this week to arrest Priority Offender, Colin Durrand.

This time four adult males and an adult female were found inside the residence and were arrested. Police found a stolen vehicle in the driveway of the home, along with ammunition inside the home, along with a prohibited weapon, gun parts, and a quantity of fentanyl.

On top of it all, RCMP discovered two small homemade explosive devices. The residence was secured and neighbours were notified. The RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit will attend the scene today (Oct.2) to remove and destroy the devices.

The occupants of the residence were released at the scene without legal process, pending further investigation and charge assessment from the BC Prosectution Service. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online.
