PRINCE GEORGE — Two schools near Boyd Street had to go into a hold-and-secure this week during some police action taking place. Police cars stayed at a residence on Boyd following a week that saw a couple incidents leading to arrests. One incident taking place around 3pm this week, when students would be heading home, forced some emergency action to take place at DP Todd and Heritage Schools.

Tim Bennett, School District 57 Chair, said action is taken within minutes anytime RCMP or the school feel the need to take extra safety measures. It is something schools practice a couple times each year. Emergency protocols were modernized in the last few years for SD 57. The board reminds parents safety is always top of mind, asking them to trust the systems in place.

Emergency protocols are always posted on the school district’s website. Parents wanting to learn more are encouraged to reach out to their child’s principal.
