Applications open for financial support to charities struggling through pandemic

PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF) will be once again providing funding to local charities struggling amidst the pandemic in Northern B.C.

$131,840 will be available as part of an ongoing partnership with Community Foundations of Canada, United Way Centraide Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, funded by the Government of Canada’s $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF).

This the second round of funding being made available to those disproportionately affected by the pandemic, through the PGCF. Charities in the following communities are able to apply for funding:

  • Prince George
  • 100 Mile House
  • Williams Lake
  • Wells/Barkerville
  • Mackenzie
  • Fort St. John
  • Fort Nelson
  • Vanderhoof
  • Fort St. James
  • Fraser Lake
  • Burns Lake
  • Terrace
  • Kitimat
  • Prince Rupert

Applications to receive funding will begin being accepted today (Oct.5), with the deadline being Oct.30.

The Emergency Community Support Fund was first announced on April 21, by Justin Trudeau. The Prince George Community Foundation awarded $294,495 to 39 charities across our region.
