Kings win first exhibition game in Merritt

After waiting for more than 200 days in between games the Prince George Spruce Kings took to the ice for their first exhibition game on Saturday.

Despite their first game in more than 6 and a half months, the Kings would get off to a good start.

Newcomer Rowan Miller would open the scoring for the Kings on the power play and then just a minute and a half later it would be rookie Max Borovinskiy doubling Prince George’s lead thanks to his first of the exhibition play.

It would be a similar story for the Kings in the middle stanza as Corey Cunningham would find the back of the net and Nick Rheaume would also get on the scoreboard late in the frame.

The Centennials would break the shutout bid late in the 2nd period, but that is as close as the Cents would come as the Kings would hold on for a 4-1 win.

The Spruce Kings will have this week off and will play their next exhibition game on October 23 in Merritt.

The two teams will then travel to PG for the 2nd half of the home and home set for October 25.
