Possible COVID-19 exposure on Prince George Taxi Service

PRINCE GEORGE–Prince George residents may have been exposed to COVID-19 in early October on a local transportation service.

A release by Northern Health says that anyone who used the services of Prince George Taxi between Oct.2 or 3, between the overnight hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

“Public health contact tracing is underway and, where possible, NH is reaching out directly to individuals who have been exposed.”–Release by Northern Health

People who travelled on PG Taxi during that time period are being asked to self-monitor for any symptoms until Oct.17th.

Northern Health adds that people remain healthy and do not develop any symptoms, that there is no need to self-isolate, however, if symptoms are developed they are asked to self-isolate and contact the COVID-19 Online Clinic and Information Line for Northern BC residents at: 1-844-645-7811, or contact your primary care provider.

Northern Health is reminding the public of the importance of following COVID-19 health precautions such as: staying home and avoiding travel when sick; physical distancing and using masks when that is not possible; handwashing; and not attending gatherings of more than 50 people.

A previous exposure was reported by Northern Health at Prince George Secondary School over the long weekend. The exposure is said to have taken place on October 2.
