Spruce Kings adjusting to life in the bubble

2020 has been a year of adjustment for everyone.

For the Prince George Spruce Kings, they will experience some change this season.

Not only will they be potentially playing with no fans in the stands, but they will be wearing full-face protection as part of the BCHL’s return to play plan.

This will also feature a splash guard, which will help reduce the number of droplets coming through each helmet.

“Obviously it’s weird,” shared forward Darwin Lakoduk.

“I haven’t worn a full face in 3 years now and I think I’m starting to get used to it now.”

For the average person, changing helmets may not seem like that big of a difference.

However, for players who have worn both a full-face helmet and just a visor, there are some differences.

“It fogs up more,” explained Defenceman Colton Cameron.

“We have to put visor spray on so it doesn’t fog up. That’s the main problem. Just have to get used to it.”

The Kings will play their next exhibition game next Friday in Merritt against the Centennials.
