CRD moving ahead with alternate approval process for new streetlights
QUESNEL—The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) says they are moving ahead with the alternate approval process (AAP) for the proposed installation of streetlights just south of Quesnel.
In a release by the Regional District it says that an increase in industrial traffic and a pedestrian fatality in early 2019 highlighted the need for safety improvements to the Maple Drive corridor.
If approved, the proposal would see the installation of 23 streetlights along Maple Dr. at a cost to residents of $7.31 per $100,000 of assessed home/property value annually.
“An AAP is a ‘reverse’ form of public assent where the proposed change will go ahead unless at least ten per cent of the eligible voters submit a signed Elector Response Form saying they are against the proposal.”—Release by CRD
