Doghouse Fundraiser

Throw someone in the doghouse for a good cause

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Humane Society is holding their “In the Doghouse” fundraiser next Saturday, on November 7. Participants will be put in the doghouse to raise money and awareness for shelter animals.

Participants create a fundraising profile and then head into the adoption rooms, where the animals can normally be viewed from at the Humane Society. From there, their goal is to raise enough funds to cover their adoption fee.

The person who raises the most money gets the honor of being crowned Top Dog. People can nominate friends, family, or colleagues, or sign up to participate for the fundraiser themselves.

Angela McLaren, Executive Director at the PG Humane Society says that people will be in their own adoption room, so they will be able to physically distance and follow COVID-19 health protocols during the fundraiser.

McLaren says “it’s very similar to what people would know as a jail-and-bail, and what we did was we tweaked it a little bit to suit our organization and make it a bit more animal orientated.”

McLaren continues, “the reason we’re doing this fundraiser is we really want to create some awareness around animal sheltering, and how important animal sheltering is in this community.”

The PG Humane Society is still accepting nominations and participants. You can sign up on their website, or make a donation.
