Canadians not using online COVID-19 mental health support: Study

A new study led by researchers at the University of British Columbia has found many Canadians are not making use of virtual resources that could help them cope with the mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study found 65 per cent of three thousand survey participants reported adverse mental health impacts related to the pandemic in May, while only two per cent reported accessing a variety of online resources.

Lead researcher and nursing professor Emily Jenkins says a lot of mental health care options aren’t publicly funded and it’s important for people to know there are free options available to everyone in different languages.
