It was a busy weekend for the Prince George Spruce Kings who played 3 games in 3 days down in the Kootenay’s.

The start of the trip didn’t go so well for the Kings as they fell 6-2 to the expansion Cranbrook Bucks.

Christian Buono and Mason Waite had the goals for the Kings in the loss.

Saturday, though, the Kings bounced back. Andrew Seaman and Corey Cunningham found the back of the net and goaltender Aaron Trotter stood tall as the Kings walked away with a 2-1 win.

The final game of the road trip was in Trail against the Smoke Eaters, in a re-match of last year’s first-round series.

After Trail opened the scoring in the first period, the Kings would tie it in the 2nd thanks to Rowan Miller’s 3rd of the pre-season.

Three periods solved nothing and neither did a five-minute overtime period, so the contest headed to a shootout.

Unfortunately for the Kings, goals by Chase Dafoe and Zach Feaver would put Trail in the win column, walking away with a 2-1 win.

The Kings finish the trip with a 1-1-1 record and are now 4-2-1 in the pre-season.

They will play their final exhibition game Saturday in Merritt against the Centennials.
