Traffic light installation complete in College Heights

PRINCE GEORGE — Good news for motorists in lower College Heights as the City of Prince George has completed work on a new traffic light installation at Domano Boulevard and St. Lawrence Avenue/Gladstone Drive.

The City says crews started work in September “to help facilitate development, improve network access for the surrounding residential and recreational areas, and to improve intersection road safety.”

The signals have been flashing red since late last week and operating as a four-way stop in order to test the lights. Starting at 1 p.m. today the signals will begin functioning as a regular intersection featuring “permissive left turns,” which means turning can occur on the green light when it is safe to do so.

The City says the signals will operate in a manner similar to those the City installed last year at the 22nd Avenue and Ospika Boulevard intersection. The lights remain green on Domano until vehicles approach the intersection on Gladstone Drive or St. Lawrence Avenue. The updated intersection has vehicle detection technology and pedestrian-activated crosswalks.
