A new-look Plaid Friday coming

PRINCE GEORGE – While the big box retailers are focussed on Black Friday, downtown merchants are gearing up for Plaid Friday. It is hosted by Downtown Prince George, who reminds shoppers that there are more than 90 retailers and more than 35 restaurants and cafes in the downtown.

This is Plaid Friday’s fifth year and the idea is to attract shoppers into the stores in the run up to Christmas, but it will have to be done differently this year.

“We’ve had to be a little creative, adapt a little bit. We’ve had to move to online shopping as well. We’re doing some curbside pick-up, some personal shopping for people. We’ve limited the amount of people in the store,” says Kim Hurlston, Manager of Jim’s Clothes Closet, which is an annual participant of Plaid Friday.
