Operation Red Nose goes a different direction

PRINCE GEORGE – Like so many things, COVID-19 has ruined another holiday fundraising campaign. Operation Red Nose will be parking this December, not wanting to put its volunteers and their rides at risk. And that includes the local Operations Red Nose, which is administered by the Nechako Rotary Club. Instead, Operation Red Nose is going the educational route.

“It’s an online awareness designed to keep the Red Nose spirit alive during the holidays” explains Andrea Johnson, who runs the Prince George campaign. “We’re encouraging everybody to take the reins for their own safety.”

It’s done through take-the-rein.com to learn ways to encourage others to plan ahead or designate a driver for the night. There are actually recipes for mocktails and so on.

But the pandemic hasn’t put the damper on Operations Red Nose’s fundraising efforts. There is also a link on take-the-reins.com, find your community and donate.

And all of the money goes to local youth athletics.
