Northern Health shatters another daily record with 50 new cases of COVID-19

PRINCE GEORGE – For the second time this week, Northern Health has shattered single-day case records counting 50 new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday.

Provincially, BC totalled 711 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 more people have died because of the virus.

“We continue to face a significant surge in community transmission and new cases of COVID-19, which means following the provincial health officer’s (PHO) orders and using all our layers of protection is necessary for every person in our province right now.” – Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC Provincial Health Officer.

Active cases remain steady with 9,050 in BC, with 338 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19 an increase of 13 since Thursday, 76 of whom are in intensive care a decrease of 4.

Currently, 10,957 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and 25,658 people who tested positive have recovered.

Cases in other health regions include, 143 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 427 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 10 in the Island Health region, and 81 in the Interior Health region.
