41 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 11 more deaths in B.C.

PRINCE GEORGE – There were 41 new cases of COVID-19 reported by BC Health Officials on Friday.

BC saw 737 more cases of the virus reported along with 11 more deaths provincially.

Active cases sit at 9,589, a slight increase of 65 from Thursday, for a total of 40,797 since the start of the pandemic.

There are 342 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 87 of whom are in intensive care.

Local critical care numbers see the University Hospital of Northern BC with three open critical care beds as of December 10th with 20 beds occupied, according to the BC Ministry of Health.

Capacity in Northern Health currently sits at 70% of capacity, Northern Health confirming to CKPG News Friday that patients may be transported out of the region for care.

Currently, 12,008 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases. A further 29,598 people who tested positive have recovered.

Across the province, the Vancouver Coastal Health region saw 119 more cases of the virus, 469 new cases in the Fraser Health region, eight in the Island Health region, 99 in the Interior Health region, 41 in the Northern Health region, and one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada.
