Guns and ammo targeted in Miworth B & E

Dec 16, 2020 | 10:42 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — Local Mounties are investigating a break and enter at a home in Miworth.

Cst. Jennifer Cooper says they were notified of the break and enter shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday (Dec.14).

“Sometime during the day, one or more suspects entered the home and pried open a gun safe,” she says. “The suspect(s) took five handguns and the matching magazines from inside the safe.”

Cooper says investigators believe that the suspects targeted the residence and the safe in order to steal the firearms.

“Guns were targeted in this break and enter. Every gun owner should take all precautions to secure their firearms and should refrain from discussing locations and details of their guns with others.”

She adds one of the firearms was located yesterday (Dec.15) by a member of the public, hidden in some garbage in an alleyway. Cooper says this may have been an attempt to hide the firearm for future use.

If you have any information about this case you’re asked to call the RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477.
