Quesnel purse snatchers arrested

QUESNEL — Quesnel Mounties have arrested a local couple who police allege stole an elderly woman’s purse.

As CKPG reported earlier this month, the couple allegedly stole the purse on Dec. 8 after she gave them money for food and provided them with a ride.

Once they stole the purse, police say the couple had stolen $400 from a fraudulent ATM withdrawal. It is believed the couple watched the woman enter her PIN number as they assisted her at the bank. RCMP say a second fraudulent withdrawal at another location was unsuccessful.

Quesnel RCMP say on Dec. 14, after identifying the couple with video surveillance, they were arrested. When they searched the couple, police found several items and financial cards belonging to the woman.
