Avalanche control planned for Pine Pass and Hwy 97 on Monday

PRINCE GEORGE – If you are planning to through the Pine Pass on Monday December 21st, expect some delays as crews conduct avalanche control.

Avalanche control will affect Highway 97, in both directions between Powder King Rd and Old Hasler Rd (1 km north of Pine Pass Summit) according to Drive BC.

The preventative activity will start Monday Dec 21 at 10:00 AM and will go until 2:00 PM.

The road will be closed for 30 – 45 minutes within this timeframe while avalanche control for CN is ongoing.

During these closures, the avalanche technician may be able to use explosive devices to artificially trigger an avalanche.
