PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Youth Soccer Association has been slowly but surely piecing together a restructuring of their organization.

The restructuring comes as a goal for the PGYSA to meet all Provincial and National guidelines by the year 2025, with the first of their guiding documents planned for release early this year. According to Director of Club Operations Terrol Russell, the initial document to be distributed will be their first-ever Strategic Management Plan, which outlines 4 core strategic initiatives and 20 supporting initiatives.

“What we’ve done over the last 18 months, over that period where we did a gap analysis and reorganization within the club, we now looked at a strategic management plan,” explained Russell.

“It’s going to be released here in the next few weeks, and we now have a strategy and a plan with 20 key strategic initiatives from 2021 to 2025 where we will have a strategy in order to achieve certain outputs within our organization. It’s something, again, that reinforces the professionalized approach that we’re taking in order to meet provincial and national initiatives within the next four years.”

Now the pandemic has forced the PGYSA to push back the release of this document by at least six months according to Russell.

“We figured that we’re going to wait until we know we can start to move forward and really implement some of our key initiatives,” says Russell. “We also have to give a lot of credit to the people who were a part of reviewing the document with us. There was a lot of very good feedback from a lot of people from throughout the country. Hopefully, now we’re going to start to see some normality coming into our outdoor season, so we’re going to see the fruits of the labour heading into our next outdoor season.”

This new plan will put the PGYSA on par with leading organizations throughout not only the province but all of Canada as well. What the PGYSA has built will allow the organization to drive forward while showcasing its focus on the athlete first and foremost.
