Police standoff at 11th Avenue and Vancouver Street

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper says some of the inhabitants of the home have surrendered while other remain inside.

She says police were tipped off to the residence by an abandoned 9-1-1 call which came in just after 12 p.m.

Prince George RCMP confirms there’s a standoff outside a home on 11th Avenue, just a few doors away from Vancouver Street.

CKPG Today was on the scene and could hear officers asking the inhabitants of the home to come out with their hands up.

The North District Emergency Response Team and Prince George RCMP Police Dog Services are on the scene.

“There is currently no danger to the public but police do ask that the public avoid the area for the time being. Police are familiar with the residence,” says Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

The standoff has closed Vancouver Street from 10th Avenue to 12th Avenue. Police say they will open the area again when the situation is resolved.
