PRINCE GEORGE —Police have arrested a prolific offender.

Prince George RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper says the arrest was made following surveillance on a stolen 2018 Ford F150. She says Burns Lake RCMP have been looking for that vehicle in relation to a break-and-enter in their area on Dec.15, 2020.

“After conducting surveillance on the vehicle, members of the Street Crew made the decision to arrest the driver of the vehicle,” says Cooper.

“The driver then attempted to flee in the stolen truck, colliding with several RCMP vehicles during the attempt. Police arrested the two occupants of the vehicle and held them for investigation.”

Police identified the driver as 37-year-old Eric Wayde Johnson. She says the BC Prosecution Service approved charges of flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to comply with his current bail condition. Johnson will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Cooper says police arrested Johnson under similar circumstances last October. At that time, she says Johnson was located driving a stolen truck and note again he attempted to flee from police. As a result, she says the courts bound Johnson on several conditions of bail pending further court dates.

Cooper says the second occupant of the vehicle was released and the person won’t be indentified.
