PRINCE GEORGE – What started as a passion project over a couple of beers has since been materialized by hockey dads Chris Hunter and Mike Peterson.

Construction of the 3 on 3 style ice rink – which is 125 ft x 55 ft – began in mid-October inside the Prince George Curling Club, and has since had weekly programming begin through Northern ICE Sports.

First is the youth option that combines Shawn Gendron leading a Power Skating and Hockey/Ringette Development ice time with some modified play.

Due to the restrictions in place, as laid out in the Provincial Health Office’s Phase 2 Transition Measures for sport activity, the facility is limited to small groups and in club modified play.

Through the program, local youth have the opportunity to learn new skills and then use them in a fast and exciting game that same week.

As Covid restrictions begin to loosen Northern Ice will also offer 3 on 3 gameplay opportunities for all ages.

Information on all Northern ICE Sports offerings are available on their website and their Facebook page.
