509 new cases of COVID-19, 49 in Northern Health

PRINCE GEORGE — British Columbia’s provincial government is reporting 509 new cases of COVID-19 in BC, 49 in northern health.

That brings the total number of cases in B.C. to 60,117 – 53,115 people have recovered.

Sadly nine new deaths bringing the provincial death toll to 1,047.

There are 4,604 active cases in B.C., 349 people are currently hospitalized, 68 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

To date, 75,914 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in B.C.

Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also issued a statement following news of a delay in the province receiving vaccine.

“We are disappointed to hear today there will be a short-term delay in the delivery of some of the Pfizer vaccines to British Columbia in the coming weeks as the company upgrades its production facility. We are working closely with the federal government to determine how this might impact our immunization rollout in the immediate term, and we will have more to share in the coming days.”
