RCMP investigating 3 fatal crashes

PRINCE GEORGE — The RCMP has confirmed three fatal car accidents, two in the Prince George area.

The first occurred last Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on Foothills Boulevard between Chief Lake Road and Austin Road.

Police say it claimed the life of a 29-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle. When police arrived on scene, they saw a Ford F-150 rolled into the ditch and lying on its roof. Police say the vehicle had also sheared off a power pole during the collision. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Tragically another fatal crash on Saturday at around 1:45 p.m. on Highway 97 north of Tallus Road, in the Summit Lake area. The single-vehicle crash killed a 60-year-old woman. The woman was pulling a horse trailer southbound on the highway when the tires caught on the ditch and pulled the truck and trailer over the embankment. The woman was announced dead at the scene. The miniature horse in the trailer did not receive any significant injuries.

North District RCMP Cpl. Maddona Saunderson says there was a third fatal crash in Fort St James last Thursday. The head-on collision involved a pick-up and a car on Tachie Road claiming the life of the 86-year-old individual driving the car.
