PRINCE GEORGE – School District 57 Superintendent Anita Richardson has gone on leave confirmed to CKPG News by School Board Chair Trent Derrick.

“I can confirm she is on leave at the moment and Deputy Superintendent Cyndi Heitman will act as Superintendent, as a board we look forward to when she [Richardson] returns.” says Derrick.

Derrick says he cannot share details of why Richardson went on leave, or how long it will be before he expects her back.

“That is why we have an amazing team of administrators and a deputy superintendent, who is acting right now. That is what we’re looking forward to and everything is all well and dandy at the school board office,” says Derrick.

Derrick says he cannot disclose when Richardson went on leave, as it is a “personal matter.”

The vision and work within the district will not be affected according to Derrick who says parents and students will not feel the effects of her absence.

The only difference will be if that work will be redirected from the Superintendent’s office into the acting Superintendent’s direction.

Richardson started the job as Superintendent of School District 57 in January 2020.
