Ottawa announce new COVID-19 related travel restrictions
OTTAWA — The federal government has announced new restrictions aimed at discouraging travel and reducing the spread of more infectious variants of COVID-19.
Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Air Transat are suspending service to Mexico and the Caribbean as of Sunday, right through to the end of April.
Anyone returning from abroad will quarantine in a designated hotel at an estimated cost of two-thousand-dollars per person as they await the results of an airport COVID-19 test.
Anyone testing negative must spend the rest of their two-week quarantine at home.
People testing positive will have to isolate in designated government facilities.
Starting next week, all international passenger flights must land in either Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary or Montreal.
