The PGSO continues its 50th Anniversary Season with three streamed concerts
PRINCE GEORGE- COVID 19 has thrown a wrinkle into the PGSO’s 50th Anniversary Season plans for a series of live chamber concerts for audiences of 50 people this spring. While they plan to return to live concerts as soon as health regulations permit, the PGSO is in the meantime, continuing its Anniversary Season with three upcoming streamed concerts:
February 14, 2021: 2 pm Picturing Spring in Winter Michael Hall conducts two hauntingly beautiful pieces for winds and strings. The first, Siegfried Idyll by Richard Wagner was written for his wife’s birthday and was performed outside her bedroom as she awoke on the morning of her birthday. The second piece is thought to be one of the finest of compositions written for nine musicians: Nonet Op 139 by Josef Rheinberger.
March 7, 2021 :2pm Kinderconcert: String Beans For kids 3 to 8 and anyone who is young at heart! Join us as we bring back this kinderconcert hit of 2019! Written and produced by well-known local musician Barb Parker, this concert promises to keep the kids spell-bound!
March 13, 2021: 7:30 pm Baroque Hits! Michael Hall returns to conduct an all-strings concert featuring Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S. Bach, Canon and Gigue by Johann Pachelbel, Rondeau from Abdelazer by Henry Purcell, Sinfonia in G, R 149 by Antoni Vivaldi, and Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg.
