VICTORIA —Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced 414 new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia today, including 34 in the Northern Health region.

That brings the total number of cases in B.C. since the start of the pandemic to 68,780, 61,643 of those people have recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 108
  • Fraser Health: 182
  • Island Health: 26
  • Interior Health: 63
  • Northern Health: 34

“There are 4,426 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. There are 278 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 80 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation,” say Henry and Dix.

They add that 142,146 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 6,417 of which are second doses.

Sadly, there have been 16 new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,234 in B.C.

“To make this work for everyone, we need businesses to have robust safety plans and closely follow all of the public health orders. We also need everyone to do the same: to follow the orders we have in place and use our layers of protection, whether we are out at a restaurant, work, school or home,” say Henry and Dix.
