Advertising for bars and pubs punted for Superbowl

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s an event last year that had over 18 million viewers across Canada, Superbowl.

This year is much different than anything restaurant owners like Nathan Coole have seen before.

“The regulations have always been in place, but they’re enforcing them more because it’s a higher risk for people to get together,” says Coole, owner of the Westwood Pub.

Coole says because no ‘events’ are allowed to be held, bars are not allowed to advertise that they are showing the big game, instead just treating it like a normal Sunday in a sense.

BC Health Officials have done the opposite of what transpired on New Year’s Eve, giving establishments notice on Monday about what the plan was for Superbowl Sunday.

Dr. Bonnie Henry said on Monday that there should be no big parties and no big gatherings with those outside of your own household for the big game.

“We need to be careful not to undo the progress we have worked so hard to make,” said Dr. Henry on Monday.

The Westwood will be offering delivery service this weekend Coole hopes to get food on the table, even though that table may be in your own home.

Coole says he hopes people abide by the restrictions in place so things can return to normal sooner than later.
