PRINCE GEORGE – Tack on another three years to the tenure of Mike Hawes at the helm of the Prince George Spruce Kings.

On Thursday, the club announced the 51-year-old has signed a three-year extension, keeping him as the general manager.

“I am excited and honoured to continue with the Spruce Kings organization,” said Hawes. “The BCHL has evolved tremendously in my time in this league and I am proud of what we have accomplished and how we have embraced that evolution in Prince George to become a top team and franchise. It has taken a lot of hard work from a lot of people to get the organization to where it is. I have learned the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded and good people that care deeply about our community and our team. I look forward to the next three seasons as we continue down the path to make the Spruce Kings organization the best organization that it can be.”

Originally joining the club as an associate coach back in 2005, Hawes was promoted to Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel in 2007. At the end of March 2011, Hawes was promoted again into the General Manager position where he has served since.

Hawes is a Fred Page Cup and Doyle Cup Champion and was also named the 2019 BCHL Executive of the Year. Hawes has also been a part of both Spruce Kings national championship runs including 2008 as an Assistant Coach, and in 2019 as the General Manager.
