PRINCE GEORGE — Old Man Winter has finally made an appearance in Prince George and area.

Environment Canada has released a special weather statement noting that things will turn colder due to a blast of arctic air.

The cold temperatures will begin today and continue overnight and through the weekend and beyond.

” The cold air will be in place throughout the province by Monday, and persist for the remainder of the week,” says Environment Canada.

“Temperatures over Interior regions will be 10 to 20 degrees below the seasonal average, while coastal areas will be 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal, making for the coldest conditions seen this season.”

Tonight that means an overnight low of minus 21, minus 23 with the windchill.

Tomorrow will bring a high of minus 13 and an overnight low of minus 27. By Monday night, an overnight low of minus 30 is expected.
