Thieves break into Spruce City Stadium

Feb 8, 2021 | 5:34 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Peter Ghostkeeper says he feels defeated as thieves have taken the sound out of Spruce City Stadium.

Sometime in the last two weeks, thieves busted into the ballpark and hauled out the speaker system along with a number of items from the concession.

The speaker system itself was donated to the ballpark back in 2015, after the previous sound system was stolen.

Measures were taken back then to ensure it didn’t happen again but Ghostkeeper says somehow they got in, and he’s running out of ideas on how to keep the thieves out.

“I think what we have to do now is weld the doors and openings shut during the winter,” says Ghostkeeper who says he feels defeated.

Prince George RCMP say there is a file open, but have no video surveillance from the ballpark, and no witnesses.

RCMP say if anyone has any additional information that may help piece together this case, they can call police or crime stoppers.

In the meantime, Ghostkeeper says he will have to decide what his next move is, saying there may need to be a fundraiser to put the sound back in Spruce City for the fastball season.
