VICTORIA —British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced 435 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 37 in the Northern Health region.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 107
  • Fraser Health: 221
  • Island Health: 23
  • Interior Health: 47
  • Northern Health: 37

Henry says that brings the total number of British Columbians that have been diagnosed with the virus since the pandemic began to 71,387, 65,618 of which have recovered.

She says there are 4,393 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., with 241 people in hospital, 68 of whom are in critical care.

“To date, 155,585 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 12,802 of which are second doses,” says Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix.

Sadly, there have been four additional COVID-19 related deaths for a total of 1,263 in B.C.

By saving our socializing and travel for another time, we are protecting the people we know and care for most, as well as those we may not now – an elderly neighbour across the street, the clerk at our local grocery store, our first responders and front-line health-care workers who are also doing their part,” remind Henry and Dix.
