Reminder: Keep your sidewalks & driveways clear for Postal Workers

Here is what you can do to help your local mail carrier:

– Clear snow and ice from driveways, walkways, and porches.

– Salt doesn’t always work in extreme cold — use sand or provide traction some other way.

– Make sure handrails are clear.

– Check steps for ice and damage.

There have been a few situations where Canada Post has had to send out letters reminding or suspending service to some areas.. because of unsafe conditions.

A prime example is in the North Kelly Road area. It was deemed unsafe and now residents must pick up their mail at the 5th Avenue station.

” And that’s something more on the Canada Post management side but that’s something that they’re taking care of and so on. So, if it was deemed dangerous or something like that, that’s usually something, that’s usually how that proceeds, like that. So, I think that’s just an ongoing thing.”

There were a number of reasons this happened, Traffic congestion, speed and the street width making it safe for deliveries. All and all, Rasmussen says a majority of customers take care of their mail carriers
